On the Table: Foster Care, Adoption, and Parenting to Promote Racial Justice

You are invited to a very special afternoon of lunch, fellowship and conversation. The Coalition for Children, Youth, and Families will be hosting an On the Table discussion. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s On the Table MKE is a regionwide forum offering a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation and take action – individually and collectively – to improve the quality of life in our community. On October 9, 2018, more than 5,000 residents throughout greater Milwaukee gathered in small groups to share a meal—breakfast, lunch, coffee or dinner-- and discuss the opportunities and challenges we face.

This year on October 10, 2019, we will be hosting a discussion focusing on parenting to promote racial justice. When white parents decide to foster or adopt children of color they are doing more than just parenting transracially. They are simultaneously deciding to join the fight towards racial justice. Our table will focus on how foster and adoptive parents can support their children of color as they learn to navigate the world.

This informal event will be held:

Thursday, October 10th, from 11:30 am-1pm (Lunch will be provided).

We are located off of Greenfield Ave., above the West Allis Community Child Care Center. Enter from Greenfield Ave. and look for the entrance by the daycare playground.
